Shangri-La Naada

The Linden Centre found its own "Paradise on Earth" in a serene village alongside Shangri-La's Napa Lake. Curious yaks bask in the sunshine outside our gates while migratory birds flock to Napa Lake's protected wetlands, the Yila Grasslands.

"Paradise on Earth," depicted in the book Lost Horizon, is a village deep in the plateau, with grasslands surrounded by mountains, sacred and serene lakes, and simple and kind people.

The Linden Centre found its own "Paradise on Earth" in a serene village alongside Shangri-La's Napa Lake. Curious yaks bask in the sunshine outside our gates while migratory birds flock to Napa Lake's protected wetlands, the Yila Grasslands.

The Tibetan-style rammed earth and wooden structures were originally a village community center and school. We have transformed them into modern, spacious guest rooms with grand windows that frame stunning lake and mountain views.

The Centre's restaurant fuses regional ingredients with international cuisine, absorbing the local delicacies into mouthwatering and fresh Tibetan dishes. The Centre makes slow-fermented highland barley bread, milk pomace, and ready-to-eat pickles. Other guest favorites include savory stews, fresh salads, and local cheese sandwich. Our selection of locally brewed Shangri-La beer and coffee complements every meal.

Guests can interact with local children during our English Corner classes, play basketball with monks on our adjacent full-sized community basketball court, visit local families for an afternoon of fireside conversation and Yak Butter Tea, and study local weaving with village artisans. Winter and Spring Bird Watching in the adjacent wetlands is among the best in China.

"Paradise on Earth" awaits your visit at The Linden Centre's Naada Retreat. Shangri-La has never been so attainable.
