Wuxi Partnership Ends, Focus on Yunnan Renewed

To all our friends who have followed the evolution of our Wuxi project, we have made the difficult decision to forego future management responsibilities of this new site.

While the design and restoration have been moving ahead on schedule, we have increasingly become involved in projects throughout Yunnan that need our daily attention. Because of these new projects, we are unable to fully commit ourselves to the Wuxi day-to-day management obligations and have informed the government of our decision. We believe that the Wuxi complex will be an exciting destination for Shanghai- and Beijing-based expats and will gladly provide information on the hotel to our friends.

We are torn by this decision, but feel that it is the only way we can ensure that our future Yunnan projects meet (and exceed) the expectations of our guests and village neighbors.

With the opening of our second historical compound in Xizhou, we are able to further refine our model of sustainable development and preservation. This newly opened site-the Yang Zhuoran Complex-serves as a base for educational programming for groups of all ages. It is currently occupied by Shanghai American School, and will host Sidwell Friend’s semester program starting early next year.

Our mission is to preserve China’s cultural heritage, and we have enough work in Yunnan to keep us busy for the rest of our lives. We will share these new projects with you as they are made public. Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Brian and Jeanee
