Our 3rd Annual Christmas Celebration!

6

These past few years, we all anxiously await Christmas at The Linden Centre – not for the receiving of gifts, but for our part to play as host of the Christmas Show. It is our gift to the people of Xizhou and a chance to share Western culture’s biggest holiday with the community. It really is a team effort, from the planning to execution, you never really know if it will all come together until Christmas night.  Now in retrospect, we are still laughing at the magic trick played on our local Tourism Leaders (how did he pull his underwear out of his pants anyway)? We still feel a little embarrassed that we had technical glitches with the sound, even no sound at all (for the last act)!  But there were many more highlights than lowlights including the appearance of the Emperor and Empress from the Dali Kingdom, half-naked men from Nanjian doing the “Food Jumping Dance” and our own Linden Centre team doing the “Jiangnan” Style Dance led by Santa Claus. We had the Xizhou kindergarteners singing, “We wish you a Merry Christmas” to the Dongjing Musicians beginning the show with their ancient tunes.

The word on the street was that this year was better than last years. We are never ones to bask in the glory, and now wonder how in the world are we are going to top this year’s show? Guess we’ll have to wait until next Christmas to find out.    You can see more photos posted on our LC Facebook account here.

Happy Holidays,
