A New Partnership toward Sustainability
Sustainability is a word that many people talk about, but has a multitude of definitions. The Linden Centre was founded with a desire to create a platform for exchange, to enable guests to have an insight into a different side of China through an enriching cultural experience. Recent international criticism of large-scale tourist destinations, such as Lijiang and Pingyao, has caused governments to seek alternative development paradigms. In the wake of receiving distinctions such as China’s Sustainable Tourism Award, local governments have increasingly turned to us to help them develop sustainable tourism models. Over the past month, the Centre has hosted environmental experts from the US, Europe and China to help influence the environmental side of sustainability at the Centre. We will also be collaborating on sustainability educational programs for schools, corporations, and organizations looking to learn how this relates to their communities and their bottom line. Many thanks to the Shanghai-based Yihua Group and Sustainability China. We are fortunate to be working with these innovative folks who have a desire to make a positive impact by contributing to projects related to the environment, sustainability and green technology. We are also humbled by their enthusiasm to be a part of the Linden Centre mission and their faith in our potential to give back to an even greater community.
